Perreault close to deal with Coyotes

Sources tell TSN veteran centre Yanic Perreault is close to agreeing to a one year deal with the Phoenix Coyotes.

Perreault, believed to be fully recovered from abdominal surgery, previously turned down contract gestures from both Chicago and the New York Islanders.

The Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames and Tampa Bay Lightning also showed interest.

A third round draft pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1991 (47th overall), Perreault spent time in Los Angeles and Montreal before signing as an unrestricted free agent with the Nashville Predators in 2005.

In 69 games with Nashville last season, the Sherbrooke, Quebec, native scored 22 goals and added 35 assists with a minus-3 rating and 30 penalty minutes.
