Gegen Dallas kann Phoenix in dieser Saison scheinbar nicht gewinnen. Positives gibt es eigentlich nix zu melden, was bei einer 0:3 Niederlage auch nicht verwundert.

Coyotes blanked by Stars again

DALLAS - Marty Turco made 25 saves for his 27th NHL shutout, and Sergei Zubov scored an early power-play goal in the Dallas Stars’ 3-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday night.
Mike Ribeiro and Philippe Boucher added goals for the Stars, who’ve won three straight.
Dallas had a two-man advantage less than a minute after the opening faceoff and Zubov scored at 2:03. Phoenix goalie Curtis Joseph was screened and he never reacted to the drive from just beyond the left circle, Zubov’s fourth goal of the season.
Ribeiro made it 2-0 at 17:57 of the second period with his sixth goal, a one-timer from low in the left circle after a setup by Jere Lehtinen.
Boucher’s one-timer from the left point while Dallas held a two-man advantage extended the lead to 3-0 with 2:30 remaining.
Turco preserved his second consecutive shutout and third of the season with a sliding stop on a rebound attempt by Shane Doan with 13:50 left.

Coyotes unable to unravel Stars
3-game win streak snapped with 3rd shutout loss to Dallas this year

DALLAS - The Coyotes just can’t solve the Dallas Stars, and by “solve” we mean, “score a goal against.”
Phoenix lost 3-0 Wednesday night at American Airlines Center despite out-shooting and out-hitting Dallas and winning more faceoffs.
The Coyotes have played 180 minutes vs. the Stars this season and have not scored a goal.
Dallas played minus three of its top four point producers - Mike Modano, Eric Lindros and captain Brenden Morrow - because of injuries.
“We had a good opportunity because they were missing key players,” Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky said.
It didn’t matter. All Dallas ended up needing was a one-timer through traffic by Sergei Zubov early in the first period and its stingy, neutral-zone defense to end Phoenix’s winning streak at three games.
Zubov scored 2:03 into the game with Coyotes forwards Yanic Perreault and Mike Ricci sitting side by side in the penalty box for tripping and hooking.
The Coyotes’ commitment to defense resulted in few scoring chances.
Captain Shane Doan had the two best chances to score, but Stars goalie Marty Turco kept the puck out of the net.
Tonight’s game
Coyotes at Blackhawks
When: 6:30 p.m.
Where: United Center, Chicago.
TV/radio: AZ-TV/KDUS-AM (1060).
Blackhawks update: Chicago has won three of four games since it fired coach Trent Yawney and replaced him with assistant Denis Savard. The only defeat came Tuesday vs. Minnesota in a shootout. Right wing Martin Havlat, who scored seven goals in seven games before spraining his right ankle, is expected to return tonight. Right wing Radim Vrbata leads with 18 points. Goalie Nikolai Khabibulin has played well lately and has lowered his goals-against average to 2.76.

The Coyotes, who entered the game ranked 28th in the league in power-play efficiency, were 0for3, and gave up two goals while defending five-on-three disadvantages.

2. Sergei Zubov, Stars, goal, assist
3. Mike Ribeiro, Stars, goal, assist

It’s too bad the NHL requires its players to wear helmets because fans aren’t getting a chance to see enforcer Georges Laraque’s new hairdo. Laraque had braids for the first two months of the season but has abandoned that look and now his hair is, well, all over the place. The irony is Laraque’s hair is so poofed out he really doesn’t need a helmet.
